My friend’s garden

Posted in Architecture, Nature, Photography, Poetry, Scenery with tags , on November 22, 2013 by randomrose

My two dearest friends spent years building their own home ready for retirement and have worked steadily in the garden ever since and this is the fruits of their labour in one small area of their heaven.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

She sits quietly, we think… but that is not true.

She sits and chants softly to the various hue

Rise little one, rise and shine

Your colour is needed on the deep green vine.

Rise little one, rise and shine

Your pretty white carpet helps to define

The deeper hues of purple and blue.

Rise little ones, rise and shine

This is heaven, yours and mine.

Bits and Pieces I found

I was trawling through my photos looking for a particular one. Couldn’t find, still haven’t found it but found these bits and pieces taken in USA  with my little digital camera.

WE BUILD THEM UP…THEN…

crane building altered

We built a crane…then he sat…

gathering webs…

waiting…

waiting…

for something to build…

hating…hating the fact…

he has to sit…

and act…

with aloofness

So he doesn’t look…

useless.

He  just wants to build…

and be fulfilled.

So…he waits.

At last

success…

he achieves his goal

building a city…

he finally feels whole

He stands tall…

his flag flies…

into the cloud

He retires…

to crane- land…

feeling proud

of his life as a…

crane.

A life of…

everlasting fame…

Photo0366

But alas… and…

woe is me…

I am glad that…

old crane…

can’t see

what man has done.

His buildings downed.

Dust…

hiding the sun

as crane’s greatest work…

tumbles undone…

to the ground.

Another crane…

its role…

not to build…

but…

SMASH… they said.

So he…

SMASHED…

but was filled…

with dread.

Why does man build…

then pull it down?

Do they just like the…

boom…

of the ball

as it crashes down?

NEVER JUDGE A HOUSE BY THE OUTSIDE…

Posted in Architecture, Poetry, Scenery, Strange and wonderful on May 10, 2013 by randomrose

I was loved once upon a time

I was loved once upon a time

This was my dining room

This was my dining room

I was built years ago by loving hands.

By a family that came from another land.

They built with their sweat by the light of the moon

They dreamed of the future and a special room.

Their dreams came through just as they planned

They welcomed new friends in a room so grand

With china and crystal and chairs of gold.

The house rang with laughter, the story was told.

Now that you know of this house and its story

Close your eyes and vision its glory.

Never judge a house by outside

It may look derelict but it still has its pride.

I love derelict buildings and take many photos. I was sorting through them and came across this interior in its wrong file. I was about to put it in its appropriate place when I thought that maybe this dear neglected house once has its pride and maybe a setting like this to do it proud?

A shadow within a shadow

A shadow within a shadow

Quite like this shot. I am standing behind the plant. My shadow is in the glass yet the city skyline is outside….mmmmm
